Our old friends from Poole ( the male half has requested anonymity!) joined us for a super meal in a restaurant  not far from us.  We stayed the night so a fair amount of booze was sunk.  It was altogether  a super night!

Mum  insisted on cooking us lunch although the roast chicken in a bag obviouslyrequired a lot less cooking time.  Then we went on a shopping spree to Waitrose as we had £20 worth of vouchers to spend.  Much as I’m usually rather underwhelmed  by supermarket shopping, Waitrose in full Christmas mode is pretty amazing.

Now we’re in Berlin in a  “boutique”  hotel which I’m rather horrified to discover was one the Stasi HQ!  Once you know this a corridor, which would be quite normal in a modern hotel, starts to look sinister.  I suppose our Junior suite was once 4 cells.  What horrors and pain have been lived here?  Will I sleep tonight?

On a lighter note the Christmas lights in Potzdammer Platz looked stunning on our way from  airport.  Off on a free walking tour tomorrow
